You may apply to register to vote or update your information online, in person at your County Clerk’s office, or by mail.

NOTICE: Close of business today, Oct. 13, 2020, is the voter registration deadline in order to participate in the 2020 General Election. Some counties remain open until 11:59pm in order to accept last-minute online applications. However, this is at the discretion of the county clerk and office hours do vary.

PLEASE NOTE: The voter registration deadline for the 2020 General Election was October 13, 2020. The online voter registration portal will be unavailable until after November 3, 2020.

Notice to returning uniformed service members, Merchant Marines, individuals serving outside of the country in support of national security, and spouses/dependents thereof: If you missed the deadline to register to vote, please CLICK HERE or call your county clerk or the Secretary of State’s Office to learn if you qualify for extended time to register in person.

Welcome to West Virginia's Online Voter Registration Website

To register to vote or update your voter registration online, you must provide the following information:

Your name as it appears on your West Virginia driver's license or ID card
Your date of birth
Your West Virginia driver's license or ID card number
Your last four digits of your Social Security Number

When you complete the application online it will be submitted to your county clerk for processing. The county clerk will notify you if your application has been accepted or rejected.

If you do not have a West Virginia driver's license or ID card number and the last four digits of your Social Security Number, you may not submit your form online, but you may enter your information online to be auto-filled in a voter registration application. Once you create your application online, you may print, sign and deliver it to your County Clerk by mail or in person.

If you prefer to complete your voter registration form by hand, you may download a blank voter registration form to mail or deliver in-person.
